Collaborations

I am fortunate to have opportunities to collaborate with remarkable people across the SEND field—kindred spirits who share a vision for inclusive, sensory-rich learning.

This space celebrates those partnerships and the projects we’ve shaped together.

Each collaboration is a thread in a tapestry of experiences that honour diversity, deepen connection, and welcome every learner to explore and connect in a space where every sense is welcome.

I was delighted when Joanna Grace invited me to write a sensory story for

The Sensory Projects.

This story invites you to step into the heart of a vibrant Spanish market, brought to life through the senses.

Inspired by a decade immersed in Spanish life when I travelled Spain, this story invites you to experience the rich sounds, scents, tastes, and textures that fill its bustling streets.

Together, we'll explore the vibrant market with every step.

I was one of five guest authors invited to contribute to Joanna Grace’s book Sensory Stories to Support Additional Needs: Making Narratives Accessible Through the Senses with my sensory story 'The Haircut'.

This is a practical and imaginative guide that empowers educators and carers to create inclusive, emotionally resonant stories using everyday sensory experiences for learners with PMLD, autism, and sensory processing differences.

My collaboration with Luula, the sustainable Montessori furniture company, was a delightful fusion of poetic sensory storytelling and tactile learning design. Together, we created a sensory-rich adaptation of The Three Little Pigs, tailored specifically to complement their multifunctional Montessori table and chair set which won the prestigious German Design Award in the Baby and Child Care Product Design category.

Tom McDonald is Consultant Teacher and Director at AAC & Me

AAC and Me exists to make communication possible for every child, through play, stories and real experiences bringing AAC into everyday life at school, at home and in the community.

Through specialist teaching and family-focused support, they help children turn AAC from a device into a voice, building confidence, connection and joy in communication.

Tom collaborated on 'Rudolph's Carrots - A Sensory Story for Neurodiverse PMLD SEND and Sensory Learners Told Through the Eight Senses' contributing his thoughtful ideas for embedding a repeated refrain using AAC. This poetic anchor enriched the story’s rhythm and emotional resonance, supporting inclusive participation and anticipation for all learners. Look out for Tom in future projects with Rhyming Multisensory Stories, where his creative insight and commitment to accessibility continue to shine.
